ROMPIN Oct 31 — The Felda Family Housing Project (PWF) with its 3,579 units spread out nationwide is expected to be completed in two years.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister”s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the areas involved are Felda Pasak and Felda Sungai Sibul in Johor, Felda Jengka 19, Felda Triang 3, Felda Jengka 11 and Felda Chini 3 in Pahang, Felda Chiku 5 in Kelantan, Felda Nerang 1 in Terengganu, Felda Chuping, Perlis and Felda Raja Alias in Negeri Sembilan.
He said 2,331 units were medium low-cost houses valued at around RM35,000, while 1,003 units were low-cost houses worth RM35,000 and also 35 shoplots worth RM100,000.
"Three of the 10 PWF projects which are Felda Pasak, Jengka 19 and Triang 3 have already started whereas the rest are in the process of site approval and appointing a consultant.
"These projects will help the second Felda generation to own comfortable houses to live in by 2011,” he told reporters after a key handing-over ceremony for the Desa Keratong Indah PWF project here today.
Commenting further, Ahmad said Felda also provided subsidies of between RM15,000 and RM20,000 to help young Felda settlers own a home and live in their respective settlements.
To make this possible, Felda offered a hire-purchase scheme for those who did not have a fixed income or payslip to apply for bank loans.
On Rompin Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis” suggestion for second generation Felda settlers to be offered plots of land at reasonable prices if they could not afford the PWF houses, Ahmad said Felda would discuss the matter with the state government.
"The proposal aims to give them a chance to own a home for their future,” he said.
Also present were Jamaluddin, who is also the Malaysian Ambassador to the United States and Pahang Religious Affairs, Dakwah, Unity and NGO committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sahfri Abdul Aziz.
