Felda to sue PKR leaders

By SIRA HABIBU

PETALING JAYA: Felda is filing a defamation suit against several Pakatan Rakyat leaders and Suara Keadilan publishers and reporters for making false claims that the agency was bankrupt and in disarray.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan said they would sue them for hundreds of millions of ringgit.
“Felda is certainly not bankrupt as it has RM12.2bil in net assets,” he said.
Among those who would be named in the suit are Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PKR political bureau member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, PAS’ Kuala Terengganu MP Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut, former Land and Co-operative Deve lop ment Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, who has now joined PKR, as well as Suara Keadilan chief editor Suhaimi Said, its owner and writers.
The claims were made through a report in Suara Keadilan in the June 22-29 edition of the PKR party organ.
“The title ‘Felda bangkrap’ shows they have ill intention to discredit Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“The lies have also adversely affected investors’ and stakeholders’ confidence in the agency,” he said.
He said although Felda’s cash reserve had dropped from RM4.08bil in 2004 to RM1.35bil last year, its fixed asset had appreciated greatly, from RM9.17bil to RM15.37bil, during the corresponding period.
Felda is the world’s largest fully integrated oil palm-based plantation group owning 92 factories worldwide. It is also Malaysia’s biggest plantation owner with estates covering 853,000ha.
Ahmad said the opposition parties wanted to erode Felda settlers’ confidence in the Government.
“We know what they are up to because Felda settlements are Barisan Nasional strongholds and opposition leaders are willing to resort to lies to fish for votes.”
Felda is also taking action against Dr Tan for stating in an open letter that the Prime Minister was single-handedly destroying Felda.
Zaid and Klang MP Charles Santiago had called on the authorities to investigate Tan’s claim.
When contacted, Dr Tan said he would stand by his remarks in the open letter.
“I want the Prime Minister to answer because Ahmad clearly said that he is the minister in charge.”
Dr Tan, who was a former deputy minister in charge of Felda, said many settlers had called him up to praise him for standing up for them.
“I do not simply accuse anybody of anything. This is the first time I have written such a letter and posted it on the Internet as I feel strongly about this (matter),” he said.

  1. Tak Guna,UMNO over react diatas kes FELDA..
    Kalau dah HILANG hampir 3BILLION ringgit (iaitu 3000 JUTA),jangan nak cover up dengan nak saman Suara Keadilan sebagai scapegoat untuk menutup BANGKAI GAJAH serta berPOLITIKkan ISU kehilangan wang FELDA..!!!Saperti kata PM,baru2 ini;

"Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has outlined four important factors that influence the attitude of the people on Umno and their aspirations for the party in championing their cause.

He said the 1st factor was whether the people were satisfied with the leadership at the national, state, divisional and branch levels with regard to the programmes implemented.(eg,How DPM Mahyuddin didnt take care of Muar,Johor, sampai even PR is now making strong inroads}....

Najib, who is also the Umno president, said the implementation of policies and the decisions made would be taken by the people as a yardstick in improving service to the local community.

"The 2nd factor is how the state leadership manages land applications, whether the land is to be opened up, housing matters and other issues which are related to the leadership at the state level,(eg How Ghani Othman take care of Muar as compared to Malacca, just see the area cleanliness, etc)" he said in his winding up speech at delegates meeting of the Pekan Umno division, here Sunday.

He said the 3rd factor was the party leadership at the grassroots, branch and divisional levels which would be assessed by the people in terms of their management and whether the people were satisfied, like the evaluation made at the national level.

The 4th factor was the role played by the elected representatives, whether they fulfilled the aspirations of the people, he said.

Najib said a political tsunami would occur if these four factors turned out to be negative factors where the people were dissatisfied with the leadership at the national, state, party and constituency levels.

"Thus, I call on all party leaders, whether at the grassroots or divisional levels, to discharge their responsibilities in the interest of the rakyat," he said.

He also urged all branches and divisions to simplify the registration of new members wishing to join Umno to demonstrate that the party was prepared to provide assistance and adopted an open attitude in whatever matters that concerned the rakyat.

The party president said registration of members could not be done seasonally but should be carried out continuously by organising various activities that would benefit and attract the interest of the people to join Umno."(4/7/2010)

Ambillah PENGAJARAN,JGN nak NAFI,tapi AKUI lah KEBENARAN demi KEPENTINGAN RAKYAT...,
jika tidak apabila PRU 13,BN/UMNO akan kecundang diatas kesilapan sendiri....!!
