Figos emerge National Felda/FAM Futsal champion

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 - Felda will build 18 futsal courts at Felda settlements to encourage children of Felda settlers to take up the sport said deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan today.
“Since the cost of building open courts is very high, we (Felda) are trying to devise our own design to save cost. We are in the midst of doing the costing for building such courts that can run into hundreds of thousands,” Ahmad Maslan told reporters after giving out prizes to winners of the Felda/FAM National Futsal Championships at the Matsushita Stadium here today.
Ahmad Maslan who is in charge of Felda's affairs said Felda had already built 16 futsal courts at a cost of RM48 million in Felda settlements throughout the country.
He added that Felda had also built 16 Community Sports Complexes at various settlements, equipped with futsal court and multi-purpose hall.
Meanwhile, defending champion KL Figos FC retained the title in the men's category while Selangor beat defending champion Police to claim the women's title.
Figos, powered by eight national futsal players beat T-Team 5-3 in the final to capture the title and RM30,000 cash while Selangor beat Police 3-1 to take home a similar amount.
T-Team and Police received RM15,000 each respectively for finishing as runners-up in the championships that featured 16 teams in each category.
The championships, organised by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and sponsored by Felda to a tune of RM6.5 million, was held for the third consecutive year.
